La storia delle donne nelle arti è l’indicatore di un’identità sociale cancellata dalla tradizionale storiografia. A dispetto delle lacunose ricostruzioni correnti, l’analisi dei percorsi biografici rileva come, a partire dal Medioevo, le donne siano state attive e protagoniste nelle arti, presenti nelle recensioni, autorevoli e stimate, attente testimoni della società a loro contemporanea. La ricerca è stata di tipo esplicativo ed esplorativo, seguendo un approccio di mixed methods , utilizzando tecniche di ricerca storica, sociologica, statistica e artistica.
The history of women in the arts points up a social identity that has been erased from traditional historiography. Despite the incomplete reconstructions currently available, an analysis of biographical paths reveals that women have been active in the arts, present in the reviews, influential and respected, and attentively bearing witness to contemporary society, since the Middle Ages. The explanatory, exploratory research work followed a mixed methods approach, using historical, sociological, statistical and artistic research techniques.
