The expansion of digital data is transforming the way decision making is implemented. However, the management of vast amounts of continuous data is a challenge that public bodies are not equipped to face yet. Here we will explore the field to clarify what kind of Big Data are now available for policy making and at what policy stages they can be used, following two different theoretical models. Then, we will elaborate about the need to unpack Big Data assemblages, proposing a research agenda on the three dimensions: datascape, datasphere and data culture.
