Instructions for Authors

Thank you for choosing to submit your paper to us. Following these instructions will ensure we have everything required, so your paper can move through peer review, production and publication. Please take the time to read and follow them as closely as possible; this will ensure your paper matches the Journal’s requirements.

Submission and acceptance of texts

Please submit the article in Word format, according to the template that can be downloaded from this link. Figures must be saved separately from the text. Graphs and tables must have the title and the source (when they are not original works by the author). They should also be numbered consecutively. Original files, in Excel or Power Point, must be sent in a separate file.

The proposal should be sent to the following e-mail address: rivista@ais-sociologia.it

Along with the article, authors must submit the presentation form completed in all its parts, including the bio-bibliographical notes for all authors. Texts without the presentation form will not be considered.

The Journal uses the criteria of the reviewing process indicated by the Coordinamento delle riviste italiane di sociologia (CRIS: http://cris.unito.it/)

Each proposal is subject to preliminary examination by the Editorial Board. If it is consistent with the objectives and quality standards of the Journal, the text is submitted, anonymously, for review to two referees identified by the Editorial Board.

The review process by the referees may result in one of the following outcomes: rejection, acceptance subjected to major changes, acceptance subjected to minor changes, acceptance. Any acceptance subjected to changes entails a further review round, which may be carried out by the Editorial Board or by an external referee.

When the article is accepted for publication, the authors automatically agree to transfer its copyright to the publisher, thus ensuring the widest possible dissemination.

Evaluation Transparency

Referees must comply with the code of conduct for referees adopted by the Journal (https://publicationethics.org/resources/guidelines/cope-ethical-guidelines-peer-reviewers).

In order to ensure maximum transparency in the peer review process, the Editorial Office publishes annually the names of the referees who have examined the proposals received during the year. The evaluations of the referees will be kept by the Editorial Board, and they will be available to any control bodies.

Contents and language

The Journal publishes only unpublished articles, on topics related either to the sociological tradition or to the new theoretical and research orientations in relation to the national and international debate.

The Journal also publishes articles on the status of Sociology in the academic and professional field.

Articles may be written in Italian, English, French and Spanish.

In the case of works by several authors, the form “and” should be used. (es. Thomas and Znaniecki, 1918; Jahoda, Lazarsfeld and Zeisel, 1933).

In the case of more than one work by the same author published in the same year, add an alphabetical progression to the year: a, b, c, d, etc.
